My name is Yasmine (also known as Afrofoodie), I am in my thirties (Yes, I know you would have never guessed 😇 ), with a professional background of 9+ years of experience in marketing and communications. I hold a Bachelor in Business Administration | International Business and a MSc in International Tourism Development.

Blogging has changed my life, thanks to it & my passion for promoting African cuisine, I have been selected as a 2016 YALI | Mandela Washington Fellow & 2017 Chevening Scholar.

The vibrant city of Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮 is the place I call home. Its restaurant scene keeps growing at an amazing and fascinating pace.

Why launching this blog?

The “Journal d’une Foodie” which translates to “A foodie’s diary” was an Abidjan – based food blog featuring my culinary discoveries and experiences.

When launching the blog back in 2012 as the first one ever of the country, the aim was to give an insider look into Abidjan’s food culture with the mission of connecting locals and travelers with the best food experiences.

Initially launched on blogpost, the blog had undergone several changes from its visual identity to the type of content it featured.

Thanks to blogging, I was fortunate to be able to launch several projects but the one I am the most proud of is Abidjan Restaurant Week; an annual celebration of fine dining at an affordable price.

The rebranding | About Afrofoodie

 “Journaldunefoodie.com” is being rebranded as “Afrofoodie.net” for two main reasons.

The 1st one: Over time, I have realized that there was some kind of confusion between Journal d’une Foodie & Afrofoodie.  Although “Afrofoodie” which stands for “African food lover”, was just the pen name I have been using for the past 6 years, several people thought that there were two distinct platforms.

The 2nd one: Although this will remain a food blog, I wanted to be able to share my passion for travelling, explore culinary tourism and promote the culinary heritage of Côte d'Ivoire.
